The Chief Justice of Sierra Leone, His Lordship Honourable Justice Komba Kamanda, has officially certified 38 Magistrates following their successful completion of a two-day intensive training on the Criminal Procedure Act, 2014 at Sierra Palm Hotel on12th October 2025.
In his address, Chief Justice Kamanda urged the newly certified Magistrates to apply the knowledge gained during the training and to adhere strictly to the provisions of the Act, with impartiality and without fear or favour.
The training covered a wide range of topics, including the management and administration of criminal cases in Magistrates’ Courts, committal proceedings, summary trials, the compellability of witnesses, Bail Regulations, and the new Sentencing Regime.
This programme, designed by the Judicial and Legal Training Institute, was facilitated by experienced Judges with extensive expertise in criminal law and procedure.
