The President of the Flaming Youth Fellowship at the Flaming Bible Church at New London in Bo, Ambassador Alusine Rogers   has said that he has been confronted with the task of changing what could be described as negative stereotyping of the youth by some elders of the church including the pastoral board  of the Flaming Evangelical  Ministries…

He made this statement during the Thanksgiving Service of the Youth Fellowship of the Flaming Bible Church at New London in Bo, past Sunday.

According to him ‘’ When I was made President of the Youths fellowship on June 16, 2019, I was confronted with the task of changing what could be described as “negative stereotyping” of the youths by some elders of the church including the pastoral board. They kept pointing at the negative actions of the youths in relations to their dedication to the church.  I kept hearing from most of our church elders, especially the older members, that many things have changed about the youths of today compared to the youths of yester-years as the youths are pushing away from them and that the youths are not actively engaged in evangelism and follow-up activities. ‘’

Ambassador Rogers said that ‘’Well, Inspire of all these, God still work wondrous ministry through each and every one of us.  It’s in moments like these that we experience the transforming power of the Holy Spirit.  We are grateful to God Almighty for this opportunity accorded to us to witness such a wonderful and memorable day of the historical calender of the fellowship, as we celebrate our 26 years anniversary.’’

‘’The Flaming Youths’ fellowship New London Bo since its establishment in 1995 with the inspiration of transforming youths through the word of God has gone through the leadership of nine (9) youth President and I make it the tenth ( 10th). We recognize and appreciate the outstanding leadership disposition of our past leaders whose required leadership styles saw the transformation of the fellowship to a youth ministry which influenced efficiency, effectiveness and motivation in the fellowship,’’ he said

Ambassador Rogers pointed out that ‘’ My team and I, by the divine enablement of God, met a solid foundation and we espoused a mantra of a dynamic youths determined to manifest gifts and making meaningful inputs into the development of the church. Though the journey has been inevitably challenging as some youths often thought they were doing good but end up doing the wrong things, yet we’ve been on the trajectory to ignite the youths with a passion for Jesus Christ, a love for the lost , a commitment to the church and inspire them to take faith-filled risks.’’

He added that ‘’as we celebrate 26 years of this fellowship in this church, I’m pleased to inform you that some of our past leaders whom we consider as MENTORS have graced us with their presence this year.  It has been really exciting to see them today; how God has been at work in the Youth Group. All in all, we are continually appreciative of the guidance provided by our Coordinator, Mommy Yambasu, Pst. John Lebbie and Pst. David Yovuwa.  I am grateful. to all the churches we invited and the network of Flaming Youths Bo.’’

In conclusion, he said that “we would just like to thank the church family as a whole. We look forward to your prayers and your constant encouragement. With your support and the power of God we will see great things happen in not only the youth fellowship but the life of the church

The Chairperson of the Flaming Youth Thanksgiving, who was the second Female Youth  President  , Aminata Bangura from the Faculty of Hotel, Tourism and Nutritional Science at the Milton Margai College of Education and Technology, said that she is happy over the growth of the  youth fellowship and encouraged the youths to be committed to the growth of the youth fellowship and by extension the  church.

Preaching on the theme of the Flaming Youths Thanksgiving ‘’ Consider your ways’’ taken from 1 Corinthians 3:9, the Guest Preacher of the Thanksgiving Service ,Minister Prince Tamba Lamin Boima charged the youths to be  committed to building the  body as a holy temple, and urged them to amend their ways  as they contribute towards the advancement of the kingdom of God.
