Campaign for Good Governance (CGG), with funding from USAID through Trocaire, recently orchestrated a three-day “Seeds of Peace” training program for Peace Ambassadors simultaneously held in Feredugu, Kamalo, and Kamakwie Town, aimed at fortifying their understanding of conflict and violence prevention in Karene District.
The Peace Ambassadors training initiative sought to cultivate a collaborative and community-based approach to advance peace-building while also bolstering leadership and developmental efforts. Mariama Sahid, the Communication Person for CGG, emphasized that the training specifically targeted women and youths eager to champion peace and cohesion in their communities.
A total of One Hundred and Fifty (150) Peace Ambassadors from diverse communities in Karene District underwent comprehensive training on various topics. These included the conceptual framework on conflict, violence, and peace; understanding different types of violence; tools and methods for analyzing conflict (such as the ABC triangle, Dividers and Connectors); and the stages of conflict or violence, with a particular emphasis on the wood/fire analogy, which focuses on conflict prevention, response strategies, and communication skills, among other relevant aspects.
The training reached its pinnacle with the certification of Peace Ambassadors, symbolizing their dedication to promoting peacebuilding initiatives within their respective communities.
