Njala University, Bo Campus, 16th March 2022- Njala University through Career Advisory and Placement Services (CAPS) Centre has on Wednesday, 16th March 2022 organized a one-day Employer Forum on Job readiness and career planning and development at Towama Hall, Bo Campus.
The programme targeted final year students who are to transition to the world of work by catering for their employability needs.
The Centre invited Employers from MDAs and Non-Governmental organizations including the Sierra Leone Police, the Military, Bo Government Hospital, the Judiciary, Sierra Leone Commercial Bank, Eco Bank, Bo City Council, EDSA, NASSIT, NRA, Ministry of Agriculture, National Youth Commission and World Visit. They advised the students on career planning and job search strategies followed by a question and answer session.
Giving his opening remarks, the Director of CAPS, Dr. Edward Kebbie mentioned that most students after graduation complain about the unavailability of jobs which he attributed the problem to the lack of knowledge and job search strategies and skills, noting that the Employer Forum will serve as an opportunity for the students to know potential employers while also enabling employers to market their products and services.
While welcoming the guests and students to the seminar, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor for Bo Campus, Professor Mohamed Syed Fofanah applauded the Director of CAPS for the brilliant initiative and appreciated the various MDAs and NGOs for honoring the invitation. He told the students to make good use of the opportunity.
The Career Advisory and Placement Services Centre was established in 2011 under the Vice-Chancellor and Principal’s office to address the employability needs of students by providing services in career guidance and job search strategies and skills.
