The event was aimed at discussing his intended projects shortly to be implemented and to contest for the position of Member of Parliament under the Sierra Leone Peoples Party (SLPP).

Speaking at the event, the chairperson who also doubles as the Constituency Secretary General, Alpha Kamara admonished leaders of the various zones within the constituency to adhere to the party structure on issues relating to meetings and other programs to which they are invited by aspiring candidates and used the opportunity to caution Zonal Leaders who flout the party structure in support of one candidate over another.

He added that for an aspiring candidate to engage in any public meeting or other events with party members, they must strictly follow the party’s structure with the relevant authorities all aimed at fostering proper collaboration and mutual respect for their respective offices.

In her statement, the Women’s Leader of constituency 086, Councilor Hawa Campbell also shared similar sentiments noting that the SLPP is a decent and civilised political party.

She acknowledged Mr. Nallo for recognizing the party structure in doing the needful for such an engagement with the zonal leadership and explained that as zonal leaders, they need to be very accommodating and not be selective in their interactions with aspiring candidates. She also encouraged the women to be more vibrant and focus in their participation in the political discourses as the 30% Gender Act that was passed into law to provide the space and the enabling platform for more women participation in politics.

She also disclosed that later in the day, she would be having an interactive engagement with women in all of the 20 Zones to explain the concept of the Proportional Representation/District Block System noting that much needs to be done in understanding the PR system concluding that by introducing Amadu Nallo as a promising young and vibrant politician, she wished him all the best in his political adventure.

In his brief but subtle statement, the Young Generation Leader, Degoson Siaffa recognised Mr. Nallo as an alumni of the Bo School and therefore believes in his leadership ability and furthered that as young people within the party they have presented a report among others requesting for 30% quota for young people in elective positions to His Excellency the President as evidence in the last Young Generation Council Conference that was held in Kenema.

He also maintained that his intent in converging such a meeting is to outline his plans and vision in tandem with concerns and challenges affecting the constituency and to chat the way forward for the betterment of the party and the constituency.

He reiterated that politics shouldn’t be perceived as a means to create enemies but rather should be viewed as a way to enhance collective collaboration and participation, underscoring that this is an internal politics and that every aspirant should be given equal opportunity to be heard. “We are all SLPP, it is not SLPP contesting against APC, and it doesn’t matter who wins or loses, it’s an inter-party politics and as such every candidate should be accorded the same privilege to meet and engage with the party leadership as whosoever emerges winner will be representing the SLPP,” Mr. Nallo pleaded.

He further admonished party members to desist from condemning or crying down party leaders describing it as “bad politics”, maintaining that such an act would undermines the development strives by the President and can have a negative effect on the Party which can be used as an edge by political rivals. He therefore urges Party stewards to be more focus in looking at the bigger picture to overwhelmingly vote the President at first ballot and not to be at each other’s throat for personal gains.

He admonishes the Zonal leadership to strip off the political of self-interest and think bigger for the good of the constituency and the party in giving every Aspiring candidate the level playing field as to why they could be a better choice.

Amadu Nallo recalled his previous engagement with zonal Executives during his familarisation tour across the constituency and his intention of installing 4 solar lights per Zone across the 20 Zones in the constituency is still intact and the project to commence shortly, noting that the project was halted due to recommendation from party leaders in adherence to party structure and arrangements. He reassured party members that the project is alive and has a time frame to be completely before making his official declaration to all and sundry to run for the position as Member of Parliament in Constituency 086.

Mr. Nallo appealed to zonal leaders to use their good offices in canvasing votes to re-elect President Julius Maada Bio and the SLPP with no run-off.

He applauded the strives made the incumbent Honorable – Mrs. Neneh Lebbie and admonishes party members to give appreciation where it’s due but promised them that he would do more if given the mantle to lead.
