The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon has on 13th January 2022 defeated Ethiopia national team to book a place in the Round of 16 in the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.
Two goals from Toko Ekambi and Vincent Aboubakara were enough to help Cameroon secure a place in the round 16 of the AFCON, the Africa Cup of Nations host Cameroon made a statement of intent when they defeated the Ethiopians by four goals to one (4-1) to control group A.
Ethiopia took the lead in the fourth minutes of play as Hotessa Dawa slid home after four minutes but can’t hold on as Toko Ekambi playing his professional football in Lyon got the equalizing goal to denied Ethiopia an early lead.
In the second half, Aboubakar grabbed his brace before Lyon man Toko Ekambi joined him after 67 minutes. After his opening doubles against Burkina Faso with both goals coming from the penalty spot, the 29 yrs-old Cameroon Captain Vincent Aboubakar is the tournament top scorer after his header took him to four goals. He now has five goals from ten nations Cup games a marked improvement from his first eight games producing the winning goal in the 2017 AFCON finals.
Ethiopia looking to make way out of the tournament after losing two games with a goal and their last match will be against Burkina Faso sides that last lose their match against the host Cameroon in the opening ceremony in Yaoundé.
