The Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) Organizing Committee for Women’s football has decided to postpone the June qualifiers of the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2022.
According to CAF, the move is in line with the decision to postpone men’s FIFA World Cup 2022 Africa qualifiers as a result of the constraints posed by the Covid-19 pandemic in Africa and also infrastructure challenges in the continent.
The first round will now take place during the FIFA International window 18-26 October 2021 and second round will take place during the FIFA window from the 14-23 February 2022.
Sierra Leone Female National team, Sierra Queen’s will take on the Gambia during the FIFA window of the 18th to 26th October 2021. The Winner will advance to the second round and the final round in the FIFA window will be held on the 14-23rd February 2022.
The 2022 Africa Women Cup of Nations, officially known as the Total Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, it will now be the 12 edition of the Africa Women Cup of Nations.
This edition will consist of 44 associating members will take part in the qualifying phase, hosts Morocco qualified automatically for the final tournament. The Africa Cup in Morocco will be the first edition organized in the format of 12 teams.
