Sierra Leone Premier League side FC Kallon on 11th September 2023 departed the shores of Freetown through Liberia for a direct flight to take on Dream FC of Ghana in CAF Confederation Cup last Preliminary round.
The Cavaliers will play away to Dream FC on Friday at the Accra Stadium on 15th September 2023 in the first leg of the double header in the Preliminary round, if the FC Kallon secures handful away goals then stand a greater chance to progress to the next rounds.
FC Kallon will host Dream FC in the return leg of the Qualifiers at the Southern Arena Stadium on 30th September 2023.
There huge optimism in the camp as the team travel with former Leone Stars Captain and FC Zurich defender, Umaru Bangura fondly called Zingaylay, he has been with the squad for more than two months now and he’s full fit to be part of the squad to face Dream FC in the first leg of the Qualifiers.
An aggregate win for FC Kallon could see them progress to the next stage of the competition for the first time. They were knocked out last season from the 2nd Preliminary Round of the competition by Algerian club, Future FC by a single goal aggregate.
Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone club is without star striker and SLPL leading goal scorer last season, Alie Conteh.
Conteh has left the club for European football but Liberian target man, Emmanuel Gono could feature for the Cavaliers.
Tunde Scott the General Manager of FC Kallon said the team is in high spirits to take on the Ghana side away from home and confident of his sides progressing to the next stage of the campaign.
He affirmed that, this year campaign is nothing less but to make it to the group stage and the boys have cautious to work with the team game plan of making to the group stage for the very first time, noting the squad is in high spirits and there are no injuries worries as all players are safe and sound and the camp is highly living.
The Cavaliers have been knocked out of the Qualifiers for the second time; the last one was against an Egyptian club who knock out by goals different away from home.
