CAF head of women’s football Meskerem Goshime has graced the opening ceremony of the CAF D License coaching course for female inmates at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Freetown .
This project ‘gender empowerment initiative’ using football for change and rehabilitation for female inmates is pioneered by Isha Johansen, FIFA/CAF Executive committee member.
This is the first time in the history of football across the globe for a coaching course to be conducted for female inmates in a Correctional centre
It is commendable to see the initiative taken by CAF and FIFA/CAF Executive committee member Isha Johansen to empower female inmates through football.
The opening ceremony of the CAF D License coaching course for female inmates at the Sierra Leone Correctional Centre in Freetown was graced by the presence of Meskerem Goshime, CAF’s head of women’s football.
This project, known as the ‘gender empowerment initiative,’ aims to bring about change and rehabilitation for female inmates through the power of football.
It is worth noting that this coaching course is the first of its kind in the history of football globally to be conducted for female inmates in a correctional center.
Such initiatives not only provide opportunities for personal development and skill-building but also act as a means of promoting gender equality and empowering marginalized individuals. Football has the power to bring about positive change, and this project is a testament to the transformative potential of the sport.
