Businesswoman Remanded for Alleged Unlawful Possession of Cocaine

Mishella Koroma, a businesswoman, made her first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Court No. 2 on Pademba Road in Freetown, facing four charges related to prohibited drug activities under the National Drug Control Act, 2008 (Act No. 10 of 2008).

The charges include: Collecting a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 7(b)), Dealing in a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 7(c)), Transporting a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 7(b)), and Possession of a prohibited drug without lawful authority (Section 8(a).

According to the particulars of the offence, on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at the Freetown International Airport in Lungi, Port Loko District, Northern Province, the accused allegedly collected, dealt in, and transported a prohibited drug without lawful authority.

Further, it was alleged that she was found in possession of two small parcels of cocaine at the same location and date.

When the charges were read and explained to her in court, no plea was taken.

The prosecution, led by Detective Police Constable (DPC) 18235 Kabbie K. Thoronka, requested a short adjournment to enable him to lead the first prosecution witness.

The accused was represented by C. Pujeh Esq.

Due to the serious nature of the offences, Magistrate Fornah denied bail and ordered that Mishella Koroma be remanded at the Female Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to Wednesday, July 2, 2025.
