Businessman Remanded Over Alleged Jeep Fraud in Freetown

Abubakarr Kamara, a 41-year-old businessman, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of fraudulent conversion, contrary to Section 20(1)(iv)(a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, sometime in 2024 at Brookfields, Western Area, Freetown, Kamara allegedly fraudulently converted to his own use a white Toyota 4-Runner Jeep with registration number AGV 111, valued at $5,000 (Le 118,500). The vehicle was entrusted to him by Odontola Mason for the purpose of operating the Waterside Company.

When the charge was read and explained, the defendant did not enter a plea. Prosecutor Chief Superintendent of Police T.B. Zizer, Esq. informed the Magistrate that the defendant had been served with all relevant documents.

Magistrate Jah refused bail and remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 1st December 2025.
