Businessman Remanded on Alleged Fraud Charges

Amid Kargbo, a 27-year-old businessman, was arraigned before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Court No. 4 on Wednesday, 22nd October 2025. He faces a charge of Obtaining Money by False Pretenses, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916

According to the prosecution, Amid Kargbo, on Saturday, 10th August 2025, at 3 Regent Street, Freetown, allegedly deceived Prince Bangura into paying fifteen thousand leones (NLe 15,000. Kargbo is said to have falsely claimed that he had clothing for sale, knowing the claim to be untrue, with the intent to defraud Bangura.

At the hearing, Sergeant 1306 Sesay A.B., the prosecutor, requested a short adjournment to present the first prosecution witness.

The Defense Counsel, F. Bangura Esq., also requested a one-week adjournment to confer properly with the defendant. Magistrate Kandeh granted the request and ordered that Amid Kargbo be remanded at the Male Correctional Centr in Freetown.

The case has been adjourned to 30th October 2025 for further proceedings.
