Forty-five-year-old businessman Hassan Kamara made another appearance before Magistrate Mary Julian Gbloh at Pademba Road Court No. 5 on a charge of obtaining money by false pretences, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.

According to the particulars of the offence, between 2023 and 2024, at the Central Mosque in Lumley, located in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused, with intent to defraud, allegedly obtained the sum of Seventy-Four Thousand Leones (Le 74,000) from one Mohamed Mansaray by falsely pretending that he had land available for sale knowing this to be false.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

Prosecuting officer Sergeant 3001 Francess Lamin requested a short adjournment to allow her to lead the next prosecution witness.

Due to the seriousness of the allegation and the nature of the offence, Magistrate Gbloh refused bail and ordered that the accused be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 8th July 2025.
