Alusine Kamara, a 34-year-old businessman, made his final appearance before Magistrate Mamakoh Soa Kallon at Pademba Road Court No. 3 on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. He faces a single count charge of obtaining money by false pretence, contrary to Section 32(1) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet, on February 22, 2025, at Lumley, Freetown, in the Western Area of the Republic of Sierra Leone, the accused, with intent to defraud, allegedly obtained Le40,000 (forty thousand Leones) in cash from Chika Nwachukwu by falsely claiming to have two self-contained rooms and a parlour available for rent knowing the claim to be false.
When the charge was read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.
The prosecution, led by Police Constable 15098 Sesay M.A., closed its case and requested a ruling.
In her ruling, Magistrate Kallon stated that the accused has a case to answer pursuant to Section 118 of the Criminal Procedure Act No. 32 of 1965. She therefore committed the matter to the High Court for trial in accordance with Section 120 of the same Act.
The accused will now face trial before a High Court judge on the charge of rental fraud.
