A businessman, Mohamed Tarawalie, has been committed to the High Court for trial on allegations of robbery with aggravation and wounding.

Tarawalie made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown, where he was charged on two counts: robbery with aggravation, contrary to Section 23(1)(a) of the Larceny Act of 1916, as repealed and replaced by Section 2 of Act No. 16 of 1971, and wounding, contrary to Section 20 of the Offences Against the Person Act of 1861.

According to the particulars of offence, on Sunday, 24 August 2025, at No. 42 Old Aberdeen Road, Crab Town, Lumley, in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly, while armed with a knife, robbed Fatmata Jesverila Pessima and, at the same time or immediately before or after the robbery, used personal violence against her.

The second count further alleged that on the same date and at the same location, the accused maliciously wounded the said Fatmata Jesverila Pessima.

When the charges were read and explained to the accused, no plea was taken.

The prosecutor, Inspector Kadie M. Taylor, led her witnesses, after which the prosecution file was withdrawn for ruling.

In delivering his ruling, Magistrate Jah stated that, having examined the evidence adduced before the court, he was satisfied that the prosecution had presented sufficient evidence to warrant the committal of the matter to the High Court for trial. He therefore committed the case to the High Court for further proceedings.
