Alfred Kanu, a businessman, has made his first appearance before Magistrate John Manso Fornah at Pademba Road Court No. 2 on a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, on Sunday, 26th October 2025, at No. 58 Mount Aureol Terrace in the Western Area of Freetown, the accused allegedly stole several items belonging to Ibrahim Sesay. The items include one sky-blue Samsung Galaxy A5 Android mobile phone valued at three thousand leones (NLe 3,000), one bunch of silver keys valued at one thousand five hundred leones (NLe 1,500), one gold watch valued at two thousand leones (NLe 2,000), one black cross bag valued at one hundred leones (NLe 100), and cash amounting to six hundred and fifty-five leones (NLe 655). The total value of the stolen items is seven thousand two hundred and fifty-five leones (NLe 7,255).
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded guilty.
The prosecution, led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Sorie Conteh, produced and tendered the charge and caution statement of the defendant, which were admitted as exhibits.
The defendant was not legally represented at the time of his appearance.
Meanwhile, Magistrate Fornah refused bail and remanded the defendant to the Male Correctional Centre in Freetown.
The matter has been adjourned to 14th January 2026 for record and sentencing.
