Business Man On I.Phone Theft

35yrs-old Marvin Thompson a business man made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba road court No.3 in Freetown on one count charge to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of offence on Saturday 6th August 2022 at Pratt Street new England Ville the Western Area in Freetown did steal by trick one red colour x12 iPhone mobile phone valued ten million Leones (Le10,000,000.00) old Leones property of Fatmata Sall Kargbo.

Sergeant 8811 Florence Wilson led fourth Prosecution witness (PW4) Sergeant 10400 Kabba Turay attached to the Criminal Investigation Department New England Ville police station said he recognized the accused person and the complainant.

 PW4 said he recalled on the 6th August 2022 as he was on duty at the said office when the complainant reported a case of larceny involving one missing I.phone mobile phone. He said he obtained statements from the complainant and her witness separately; the accused person was later arrested at Central Police Division himself and police constable 18389 Salamatu T. obtained voluntary caution statement from the accused person.

 The accused person was cautioned and questioned in krio language which he recorded in English at the end of the caution statement it was read over and explained to the accused person which he admitted it to be true and correct by afflicting his right hand tumb print; his colleague Police Constable 18389 Salamatu Tarawalie signed as the witness he signed as the recorder since then it was in the custody of the police, and the statement was tendered in court to form part of the court records.

On the same date he charge the accused person with the offence of Larceny by using the judges rules; the charge statement was produced and tendered in court.

The accused person told the court that he has no question for the witness, and the prosecutor told the bench that it’s the case for the prosecution.

The accused person was given two options; he choose to open his defence.

 Main while, Magistrate Bangura refused bail and adjourned the matter to the 6th December 2022.
