The Ambassador of Burkina Faso to the Islamic Republic of Iran, His Excellency S.E.M. Mohamadi Kaboré, has paid a courtesy visit to Sierra Leone’s Ambassador to Iran, His Excellency Salamu Koroma. The meeting, held at the Sierra Leone Embassy in Tehran, further strengthens the spirit of African solidarity and cooperation among African nations represented in Iran.

Ambassador Kaboré’s visit follows the recent official trip by Sierra Leone’s President, His Excellency Dr. Julius Maada Bio who also serves as Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to Burkina Faso in mid-September. Conveying his country’s appreciation, Ambassador Kaboré thanked President Bio and the people of Sierra Leone, noting that the visit reflected the strong friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations.

Describing his engagement as a policy-driven mission, Ambassador Kaboré emphasized the importance of deepening collaboration not only between Burkina Faso and Sierra Leone, but also among all African nations with diplomatic representation in Iran. He praised the growing unity within the African Group in Tehran, particularly the successful African Day celebrations, which he said had strengthened ties among African embassies.

“I appreciate the dynamic collaboration among African countries in Iran and hope to see even more joint initiatives,” said Ambassador Kaboré, expressing gratitude to Ambassador Koroma for his warm reception.

Welcoming his Burkinabé counterpart, Ambassador Salamu Koroma highlighted the long-standing relationship between Sierra Leone and Burkina Faso. He recalled his initial courtesy visit to the Burkinabé Embassy upon assuming office, describing it as a demonstration of African unity and brotherhood.

“Our embassy is open to all Africans, as we are each other’s keepers,” Ambassador Koroma affirmed.

Reflecting on shared regional ties, Ambassador Koroma also mentioned that he had accompanied President Bio on his first official visit to Ouagadougou while serving as Chief of Protocol at State House. He emphasized that such diplomatic engagements underscore the unity and shared values of West Africa.

“President Bio’s recent visit to President Ibrahim Traoré was not only significant for Sierra Leone but also for the collective good of West Africa. Our common values and unity as Africans must always be projected to the world,” he added.

The meeting concluded with both ambassadors reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and promoting a more unified African presence in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
