Twenty-two-year-old Baimba Sillah, a builder, made his first appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on three counts: Wounding with Intent contrary to Section 18 of the Offences Against the Person Act 1861; Wounding contrary to Section 20 of the same Act; and Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm contrary to Section 47.
According to the particulars of offence, on Saturday, 8th November 2025, at Bass Street, Brookfields, in the Western Area of Freetown, the defendant allegedly wounded Gibrilla Kamara with intent to cause him grievous bodily harm.
Counts two and three further allege that on the same date and at the same location, the defendant maliciously wounded and assaulted* Gibrilla Kamara, thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.
When the charges were read and explained to the defendant, no plea was taken.
The prosecutor informed the court that the defendant had been served with the relevant documents.
Given the seriousness of the allegations, Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown. The matter was adjourned to 28th November 2025 for further proceedings.
