Bonthe DICOVERC concludes stakeholder engagement & media sensitization

The Bonthe District Council (BDC) Covid-19 Emergency Response Centre has concluded a robust stakeholder’s engagement with Civil Society, Bike Riders Union, Traders Union, the Bonthe District Council, the Bonthe District Municipality and all Paramount Chiefs.

The engagement was to keep stakeholders abreast of the status of the 3rd wave of Covid-19 in the district and the country at large and to inform them about the government`s Covid-19 regulations to contain the spread of the virus.

In a bid to combat the 3rd wave of Covid-19 which is affecting Bonthe District as it has recorded up to 20 cases, the social mobilization team went into communities as well as villages to talk to people to continue using the IPC measures to prevent themselves.

A two-week media sensitization through simultaneous s on the four (4) local radio stations Voice of Women, Radio Bontico, Radio Imperi and Jangay Radio was conducted in the district in order to alert the people about the 3rd wave of Covid-19 Delta Variant which is more fatal and contagious.

Bonthe DICOVERC has also embarked on an inter-pillar community outreach which includes Social Mobilization, Psychosocial, Operations Pillar and other pillars headed by the district Coordinator.

The engagement was first done on the mainland with the 7 chiefdoms: Imperi Chiefdom, Kpandakemoh Chiefdom, Yawbeko, Bum, Sogbini Chiefdom, Nongobabullom and Jong Chiefdom and the exercise will continue to the riverine communities next week.

Currently, the district does not have any active case of Covid-19and active quarantine.
