Graced by no less a person but the first gentleman of the country, president Julius Maada Bio has in a three-day event celebrated it’s founding. Established in 1906 for the sons and nominees of Paramount Chiefs it served as the cradle for the training of future leadership.

The British colonial masters played a great role in it’s establishment.

The school has produced academics and professionals who have served at national and international levels. The school’s thanksgiving service is always blended with that of OBBA (Old Bo Boys Association). OBBA is made of past pupils of the school and so being proud of their alma mater they always blended the celebration to make it colorful. This year’s celebration was chaired by Professor Alpha Wurie, Minister of Technical and Higher Education. In his annual report, principal Kpakra thanked president Bio for being “supportive of the school” and disclosed that the school had the “best ” WASSCE candidate in the whole of the southern region last year.

The principal highlighted projects that he has earmarked which include school library upgrading, water supply, canteen and lesson observation and staff appraisal among others.

The Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education, David Sengeh in his address admitted ” challenges”  but reiterated that the government has made ” notable successes” which include more girls taking and passing public exams, more pupils getting university requirements and moving towards the achievement of SDG4. On his part the president of OBBA, Kalilu O Bah emphasized the need for notherners to take their kids and wards to Bo school as they seek national cohesion and integration which is in sync with the theme this year “unity in diversity”. And sent out warnings to people who have encroached on Bo school land to vacate or face the full force of the law. In his keynote address, Dr. Julius Sandy who is secretary to the president encouraged citizens to “develop keen interest in the running of schools and to take ownership of these schools”. He cautioned that there should be “integrity” by school authorities. He warned heads of schools not to do admission for fees subsidy sake but based purely on merit.

The prize- giving ceremony was climaxed by president Bio giving out “special awards ” to deserving pupils after the normal awards were given. President Bio went further to inspire the boys that the ” only way to academic success and success in life is to burn the midnight candle” . He told the boys that he was like them and one day they will be like him if they show determination and hard work. That the world is not an easy place to live and so the boys should start preparing now for challenges that lie ahead.
