Bo district Residents have called on the police to intensify both the day and night patrols team as this is a rainy season in which criminals seize the opportunity to unleash their dastardly acts.

“As citizens, we can also help the police to provide adequate security in our community and that is why I want the police to know that Kandeh extension is notorious for the movement of criminals,” he revealed.
Another resident of Bo No.2 Extension said that “there should be regular patrols of policed in our community and the presence of the police officers will scare away thieves in our community.”
He added that “we want to complement the effort of the police by making sure that we give tip-off to the police regularly of any suspicious movement of criminals and if the police are coming into our areas regularly I am sure that we will give them the needed intelligence to act on to arrest criminals in our communities.”
Reacting to the concerns of the people, the Deputy Media and Public Relations Officer of the Sierra Leone police, Police Constable Alhaji Osman Kamara affirmed that their mandate is to provide security for the people.
He noted that while providing security to the people, it is being done professionally and that they are aware of the fact that they cannot provide security alone for the people of the country as the Sierra Leone Police rely on them to help.
He, however, admonished the people not to harbour criminals in their society and when the new Regional Police Commander took over, she toured the southern region and talk to stakeholders and the people to help the Sierra Leone Police in the discharge of their duty.
According to Mr. Mansaray, there is a community relations department that does engage the people in the communities and strongly advises youths to reframe from criminal and violent acts.
He said that the youths need to learn the lesson and should not use their jobless status to engage in any distasteful behaviour, and encouraged them to engage in productive activities that will contribute to the development of the country.
