BO RANGERS VS FC KALLON: FIXTURE MARRED BY PITCH INVASION

Football fans of both BO Rangers football club and FC Kallon have on the 27th March 2022 halted the match between BO Rangers Football club and FC Kallon at the BO Mini Stadium.

The saga started when the center referee of the match in the first half of play brandished a red card to FC Kallon for a foul he committed in the first half of play and after the recess, both teams went in for the second half of play with BO Rangers Football Club having a player as an advantage.

 The second half started with a pace play from the two teams.

Things get out of control when the center Referee branded a red card to an FC Kallon player for a handball in the penalty box and awarded a penalty.

 That decision prompted the technical official of FC Kallon to ask their players out of the field of play and that sparked both fans to invade the field of play.

The Security personnel, including the Sierra Leone Police and the Military that were present tried to cordon the area but to no avail.

Later, the security personnel released teargas canisters to calm the situation down at the BO Mini Stadium, but it ends up in futile.

Later both supporters expressed dissatisfaction and some began uprooting the seats on the stands.

 Below is a statement from the Premier League board:

 The Sierra Leone Premier League board is deeply disturbed by the ugly scene that marred yesterday’s football match between Bo Rangers Football club and FC Kallon at the Bo Mini Stadium.

 It continues sadly in this scene appear to be the hallmark of recent Premier League matches across the Country.

The unfortunate development was orchestrated by hoodlums masked in the guise of feisty fans goes seriously undermining the collective efforts to make the league attractive, particularly in the private sector, it forwards that something badly needed to be done now especially when both Sierra Leone Premier League board and the teams continue to struggle, financially, to organize and participate in the league respectively.

The Sierra Leone Premier League board has therefore urged the designated match officials to make instructive and expedite their match reports and transmit same to the board Secretariat immediately.

The premier Board assured that it would neither be hoodwinked nor intimidated in reaching a fair and just decision in the circumstance and will follow the provision of the rules and regulations that govern the competition to the letter so justice is done.

According to Tunde Scott the team manager of FC Kallon, they condemned the act of violence and will come out with a Press Release to state their position on what happened because the team bus glass has been badly damaged and three people are badly injured some hands are broken, while others are in critical condition.

According to Solomon Demby the public Relations Officer of BO Rangers Football club, they also total condemned the act of the fans of FC Kallon to damage the BO Mini Stadium seat which is bad in modern-day football.

This is not the first time football fans have been on the rampage similar to such has happened in Port Loko, Makeni, Bo, Freetown, and Kenema.
