The Deputy Regional Media Officer of the Sierra Leone Police in the Southern Region, Police Constable Alhaji Osman Mansaray has assured the people of Bo and its environs that the police will continue to provide adequate security as the people enjoy their festivities or Christmas celebrations.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper in Bo, PC Mansaray said that as part of the security measures, they have decongested the central business district in Bo to ensure the free flow of traffic.
He said that they have taken off the traders on Fenton Road and Bojon Street as there has been in fact engagement of stakeholders including Civil Society to decongest those areas.
PC Mansaray said that the regional police commander is committed to implementing the community policing, as providing adequate security requires the huge support of the community people and this is yielding dividend.
According to him, the police officers deployed at the checkpoints are doing well as they recently arrested a woman at Fala Checkpoint in Bo with a large quantity of cannabis sativa and investigation is in progress on the arrests made.
P.C Manasray called on the public to continue to provide the police with information about suspicious movement of people who may be criminals that want to cause havoc in the society during the festivities.
“The Sierra Leone Police is on top of situation to continue to provide the people the needed security as the SLP is charged with the responsibility to provide internal security’’, he said.
However, residents of Bo have called on the police to intensify both day and night patrols in the hard to reach communities.
