The Chairman of the Local Police Partnership Board in Bo District, Ralf Jones, has commended the Executive Management Board (EMB) of the Sierra Leone Police for promoting police officers who have diligently served the nation.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper, Mr. Jones said that ‘it is not about how I feel about the promotion but how strategically the Sierra Leone Police has positioned itself and it does not mean when you are the head you should be sitting down without doing anything but rather you can strategize by critically analyzing the situation and try to move institutions to another level.’’
He said: “for us to come and understand that the Sierra Leone Police has rebranded and has gone back to the old system of ranking, is born out of the need to close the gaps in the Police force,…because of we want to see an effective and efficient Sierra Leone police, there should be a need for promotion. We need to be careful to talk about fair play because the new promotion list that is out is for the senior ranks, and I was just an observer to the process and it behooves the senior officers to prove that they indeed deserve the promotion but I was part of the interview panel at regional level in Bo,’’ Mr. Jones said.
He observed that “to whom much has been given, much is expected and I know some of those interviewed and I have worked with them. They are indeed competent and up to the task.”
Mr. Jones however lamented that some of the officers who came for the promotion did not observe the interview protocols ,pointing out that some of the officers were not well dressed.
He said that those who were not promoted should not feel discourage as God’s time is the best.
Some of the senior officers who have been promoted told A-Z that they were happy over their promotion and promised to measure up to the expectations by delivering quality service to the nation, more than what they had done.
