Following the turning on of electricity in the two regional towns of Bo and Kenema located in the south and east respectively in November 2021 there was a two- week outage.
The two regional headquarter towns of Bo and Kenema had ceased being the blackout cities. It was an occasion witnessed by the president of the republic of Sierra Leone, Julius Maada Bio and his energy minister, Kanja Sesay. But the supply line from Ivory Coast was reportedly interrupted between Liberia and Sierra Leone. 10 megawatts of electricity was purchased by the government of Sierra Leone from the government of Ivory Coast.
This power purchased had been under- utilized which had seen a massive breakthrough in electricity supply. As was promised by engineer Seiyah in his Bo office said the problem was quickly worked on and power has been restored to residents of Bo and Kenema.
In another development, copper thieves have been arrested in Bo and a business man connected with it arrested and detained.
The PRO of EDSA’s south- eastern regional office Mohamed Bash- Kay Sherriff has allayed fears and assured that “the power is sustainable and it is here to stay”. The obsolete supply lines are going to be worked on in order to enhance a safe supply of electricity. He sent out strong warning to electricity thieves and transformer destroyers to cease forth with or face the full penalty of the law.
