The Bo District Health Management Team (DHMT) has expressed gratitude to health partners, local authorities, and community members for their collective efforts in ensuring that the district has gone two consecutive months without recording any new Mpox cases.
This commendation was made during a stakeholder engagement meeting held on Wednesday, where DHMT officials highlighted the progress made in curbing the spread of the disease. They also encouraged all partners to remain vigilant and continue the momentum that has kept Bo Mpox-free.
Speaking at the meeting, health officials emphasized that the achievement was made possible through strong collaboration between health workers, traditional leaders, civil society groups, and the wider community. They further noted that ongoing cooperation will be essential to prevent future outbreaks.
On a national level, however, the fight against Mpox is far from over. According to the National Public Health Agency (NPHA), Sierra Leone recorded seven new cases and seven recoveries on 23 September 2025. This brings the cumulative national total to 5,315 confirmed cases, with 27 currently active, 5,232 recoveries, and 56 deaths since the onset of the outbreak.
The Western Area Urban District remains the most affected, accounting for 2,927 cases, followed by Western Area Rural with 1,063 cases, and Bombali District with 324 cases. National data also reveals a nearly equal gender distribution, with 2,560 females and 2,755 males infected.
The DHMT in Bo has pledged to continue working closely with stakeholders to maintain its Mpox-free status and has called on residents to adhere to health guidelines and report any suspected cases promptly.
