The Bo District Council on Monday, 23 February 2026, signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Stone Age Innovation Company and the people of Yaima in Baoma Chiefdom for the establishment of a quarry and factory in Bo District.
The signing ceremony, held in Gerihun Town, attracted a wide range of stakeholders, including council officials, company shareholders, traditional authorities, and members of the land-owning family. The event marked a significant step toward strengthening public-private partnerships aimed at accelerating local economic transformation.
Traditional leaders welcomed the initiative, describing the project as timely and transformative. They expressed optimism that it would create employment opportunities, stimulate local commerce, and improve livelihoods across Baoma Chiefdom.
Paramount Chief of Baoma Chiefdom, PC Alfred Demby, assured stakeholders of his chiefdom’s full support for the successful implementation of the project. He commended the inclusive consultations that preceded the agreement, noting that transparency and community participation were central to the process.
The Section Chief also reaffirmed the chiefdom’s readiness to work closely with both the council and the company to ensure smooth operations and mutual benefit.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Bo District Council, Victor Korseh Hindowa, emphasized that the quarry and factory project is designed not only to empower local communities but also to strengthen the district’s revenue base. He stated that proceeds generated from the venture would be reinvested into development initiatives and enhanced service delivery throughout the district.
Chairman Hindowa further acknowledged the foundational efforts of his predecessor, Joseph Munda Bindi, whose groundwork helped pave the way for the realization of the project. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that the initiative delivers tangible and equitable benefits to the people of Bo District.
Providing an administrative perspective, Chief Administrator Vivian Sally Senesie highlighted the practical and socio-economic impact of the quarry. She noted that beyond job creation, the project is expected to contribute to infrastructural development within Baoma Chiefdom and surrounding communities. She stressed the importance of strict adherence to regulatory standards, employment policies, and community benefit agreements to ensure sustainable outcomes.
On behalf of the company, former Chairman Joseph Munda Bindi expressed appreciation to the council leadership for its collaboration with Stone Age Innovation Company. He remarked that development can only thrive where it is embraced by both leadership and community members. He also thanked the Paramount Chief and the people of Baoma Chiefdom for their cooperation and support.
Outlining the company’s vision, he emphasized compliance with statutory regulations, environmental responsibility, and the implementation of meaningful corporate social responsibility initiatives that will directly benefit host communities.
Representatives of the land-owning family described the agreement as historic, noting that it represents a major milestone in the pursuit of sustainable economic growth and socio-economic transformation in Bo District.
The signing of the MoU signals a promising new chapter in industrial development within the district. Stakeholders expressed strong confidence that the quarry and factory project will serve as a catalyst for job creation, increased revenue generation, and long-term prosperity for the people of Bo.
