The Regional Convener of Civil Society in the Southern Region, Mustapha Kpaka Junoir, has disclosed that the Director of Women Against Violence and Exploitation in Society (WAVES) Sierra Leone, Hannah Yambasu, has been elected to serve as the acting chairperson for the Civil Society Forum in Bo District for a month.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper in an interview in Bo, Mr. Kpaka said that since the death of the substantive Chairman, Abdul Banya Brima, former A-Z Economic Analyst, there has been concern raised by members of civil society to have somebody to be acting while a date is scheduled to have an election to have a substantive chairman as nature does not allow the vacuum to exist.
He said two people contested to be tentatively elected and Madam Yambasu emerged as the winner to act in that capacity, adding that this woman has a wealth of experience as a civil society activist and her organization is doing well, championing advocacy for the empowerment of women and girls.
Mr Kpaka disclosed that the civil society forum in Bo district will be having a stakeholder meeting in Bo to look at the issues of decongesting the streets of Bo and the illegal parks created.
This decongestion, he said is a call by all, as the free flow of traffic is been disturbed along Bojon Street and Fenton road.
