Councillors of the Bo City Council have spoken tough against street trading along Bojon and Fenton Road in Bo.

Speaking at the Council monthly meeting held at the Bo City Council’s Chamber last week, the Chairman of the Market Committee, Councillor Mohamed Bainda said that street trading is going out of hand.

He urged the councillors to do something about it as it is a concern of people, complaining about traders occupying the street to sell.

According to him, they met as a committee and strongly recommended that they make the market habitable for the traders in the market.

The Deputy Mayor, Councillor Smart said that they have engaged stakeholders in Bo to work with the council to discourage street trading; adding that the police have a role to play including the Sierra Leone Road Safety and ensuring that the illegal parks along the street should be removed.

Speaking to this medium, traders along Fenton Road in Bo said that “even though we are occupying the street but the council is collecting due from us,” adding that “the council should create more markets for us the traders.”
