Augustine Omaska, a notorious fugitive who had escaped from the Pademba Road Correctional Facility following a jailbreak on November 26, 2023, has been successfully captured in the Kandeh area of Bo City by law enforcement authorities.

Having a history that involves serious criminal activities, including a 2017 case of Robbery with Aggravation, Omaska faced condemnation after being brought to justice.

Mr. Brima Kanneh, the Regional Police Commander South, expressed satisfaction at the re-arrest of Omaska, highlighting its significance in securing the safety of the public. This capture, according to Mr. Kanneh, not only reassures the community but also emphasizes the necessity of capturing high-profile escapees.

Moreover, Mr. Kanneh emphasized that the recapture of Omaska has led to a comprehensive review of his past offenses, shedding light on potential underlying issues related to crime prevention. This review aims to promote sustained community engagement and awareness.

The successful apprehension of the condemned fugitive has garnered praise from the Bo community for the leadership and swift response of the Regional Commander, prompting discussions on the efficacy of police operations in Bo and the collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and the public to ensure safety.

Mr. Ibrahim Sourie Kamara, the Regional Operations Commander, disclosed that Omaska had been causing disturbances in various communities within Bo, prompting locals to provide crucial intelligence to aid the Regional Police Commander.

A crowd gathered to witness Omaska’s capture, with several individuals providing testimonies regarding his previous criminal activities before he was transported back to the Pademba Road Correctional Facility.
