Blind Weaver in Bo Overcoming Disability

Allieu Sam, a blind man residing in Bo has proven that disability is never inability and has denied all odds rising to the occasion and doing the extraordinary. Under challenging conditions, he has proven critics and pessimists wrong by choosing a dignified path. He learned his art of weaving ten years ago.

Sam was not born as a blind man but due to some strange ailment has led him to such condition. Adding to his predicaments, his wife deserted him. Upon all this Sam became resilient and ambitious when he decided to learn the art of weaving. He has mastered that to some degree which has become a means of livelihood for him, wife (new) and children. He is currently attached to a school for the blind in his neighborhood where he teaches other blind children.

Sam has taught for several years without pin code, as he anticipates acquiring such, we are calling on the government to consider his application code as soon as possible. 

  “Marketing my products has been serious concern for me and accessing materials needed for my work is another issue” Sam said.

Sam is calling on kindhearted people to come to his aid as he is in dare need to maximize his products and source of livelihood. He has refused following others to beg on the street but has decided to learned trade by bringing respect to his name; and serves as inspiration to other blind people in the country.
