Plans are underway for the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone His Excellency Rtd Brigadier Julius Maada Bio to organize a month of general Free Classes in Kono District at the Islamic Secondary School Koidu grounds starting from the first of August this year. This was revealed by the Sheku Kamara Principal of Experimental School of Science in Koidu City during a community Teachers Association (CTA) meeting. Kamara noted that the classes which will be conducted or free of cost by the first gentleman of the Republic of Sierra Leone President Bio to keep the pupils busy during the third term holidays thereby complementing the Free Quality school education initiative in Kono District.
Mr. Kamara intimated the audience that the one month free of cost classes which he has received correspondence from the state house to provide leadership as Principal will create provisions for teachers and Principals from different schools in the district to teach and therefore implored all school-going pupils to make good use of such golden opportunity rather than engaging themselves in social activities that do not pay or benefit them.
Responding to a concern raised by a parent that has to do with the clash of normal school hours with public examinations timetable or schedule as that undermines the completion of the school’s syllabus. Sheku Kamara underscored the concern and pleaded with the Ministry of education to have public or external examinations in August when pupils are on holiday so that the concern raised by the parent will be laid to rest.
Concluding, Sheku Kamara strictly warned parents not to pay for the collection of results as it is their right; haven paid the tuition fees for their children or wards.
