Better Life 4 Kids Foundation recently made an appeal for increased support to save the lives of vulnerable children in and out of Freetown. The appeal was made during their fundraising dinner and dance held at Radisson Blu Hotel on January 27, 2024.

Madam Mariama Musa, the Founder and Executive Director of the foundation, delivered a heartfelt presentation emphasizing that the event was more than just a meal; it was a gathering of a community united by a common cause – making a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable children.

Expressing gratitude to everyone present, she highlighted the vital mission of the foundation: raising funds for children facing life-threatening illnesses. She stressed the significance of this cause, representing hope, opportunity, and a brighter future for these children. Madam Mariama urged attendees to contribute generously, emphasizing that every penny raised would make a tangible difference in someone’s life.

Sharing a transformative story about a child named Tamba, she urged the audience to open their hearts and wallets, emphasizing the power of kindness, compassion, and solidarity. She thanked sponsors, volunteers, and everyone behind the scenes for their dedication and hard work.

Madam Simiti Lavalie, Commissioner Children’s Commission, delivered a touching keynote address, highlighting the story of Tamba. She discussed fundamental human rights protecting children, including The Child Right Act of 2007. Emphasizing the state’s responsibility for child healthcare, she called for improvements in the healthcare system to better support children’s rights.

Madam Martha Thorpe, Program Director of King’s Partnership, spoke about the impact of children’s inequality and poverty, citing challenges such as limited access to healthcare and a shortage of qualified medical personnel despite the 2010 implementation of free medical initiatives.

Madam Millicent Cole of Rokel Commercial Bank commended the foundation for its dedication and stressed the importance of their work in preserving lives and securing Sierra Leone’s future. She highlighted the unpredictable destinies of children and the significance of supporting their growth and development.
