Accused person, Alpha Murray Turay have appeared before Magistrate Sahr Keikura of Court No 1 in Freetown on the 28th May, 2021. The accused person is charged with two count charges. Count one obtaining money by false pretense contrary to section 32 (1) of the Larceny Act of 1916 and obtaining money by false pretense contrary to section 32 (1) of the larceny Act 1916.
According to police charge sheets, the accused person is charged with two count charges. It’s alleged in count one that the accused person on diverse dates between 2020 and 2021 at Youyi Building Brookfield’s Freetown with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of fifteen million Leones (Le15, 000,000/00) from Alex Conteh, by falsely pretending that he will secure Belgium Visa for him to travel knowing same to be false. On count two, it’s alleged the accused person with intent to defraud, obtained the sum of fifteen million Leone (Le15, 000,000/00), from Memunatu Kamara by falsely pretending to secure Belgium visa knowing the same to be false. The accused person pleaded guilty for the offense. The State prosecutor prosecuting the matter is Sergeant 9155 D. Macarthy and there was no lawyer representing the accused person. The matter has been adjourned to the 2nd June, 2021.
