BBC MEDIA ACTION PROVIDES EQUIPMENT FOR RADIO STATIONS

The BBC Media Action under its every Adolescent Girl Empowered Resilience (EAGER) Program is organizing a nationwide meeting with the aforementioned program beneficiaries, mentees and Station Managers drawn from Kono, Kenema, Kailahun and Bo.

Addressing participants of the meeting held at the Sahara Hotel New Gerihun Road in Bo. The EAGER Program Manager –Adekalie Bangura foremost thanked the participants for attending the meeting.

He noted that the meeting was very important as it made provision for the participants to brainstorm alongside staff of the EAGER Program the challenges, successes and plans of the program as a way of going forward in the implementation of the said Every Adolescent Girl Empowered Resilience Program.

 Mr. Bangura intimated the audience that the objective of the EAGER Program cannot be over emphasized as it helps identify the potentials deposited in the girl child, thereby empowering them to become industrious and meaningful citizens. The EAGER Program Manager encouraged the mentees and their respective Station Managers to live up to the expectations of the Program by improving on their professional standards in the presentation of programs.

Whilst commending the beneficiary mentees and Station Managers of the EAGER Program for a work done under the period of review, Adekalie Bangura urged them not to relent as the reward for hard work is more work. Issues discussed during the meeting include.

The reading of Term of Reference, Presentation of the dashboard broadcast tracker, introduction of the purposed drama component in the implementation of the EAGER Program, verification of old equipment and distribution of new ones and the discussion of the new Term Reference and Finance Management.

Meanwhile, whilst reviewing the implementation of the EAGER Program for the period under review the following were catalogued.

The human capital development through capacity building of  the mentees, maintaining editorial principles, leadership skills, projection of the importance of children especially the girl child, time factor, script writing for radio presentations to name but a few. The distribution of Head phones, external hard drives, Rechargeable batteries and charging pack (set) and SD cards to the beneficiary stations which includes:

Gola Agricultural Radio Kenema, SLBC Kenema, Kailahun, Kono and Bo, Radio Bo Kiss 104.1 FM, Radio Gbafeth Mile 91, Radio Wanjie, and Radio New Song Kono formed high point of the one day national meeting with mentees and Station Managers of the Every Adolescent Girl Empowered Resilience (EAGER) Program by the BBC Media Action. Similar meetings were equally organised in the other Districts that constitute the Country.
