Banker Testifies In Apex Bank Embezzlement Matter

Thirty-three years old Foday Michael Stephen Adikalie Sesay a banker made another appearance before Magistrate Sahr Kekura of Pademba road court No.1 in Freetown on a count of Embezzlement contrary to section 17 (1) (b) of the Larceny Act 1916

According to the particulars of offence on a date between 1st July to 31st August 2022 at the Apex Bank Kenema branch in Kenema the Eastern Region of the Apex Bank Sierra Leone Limited, fraudulently Embezzled the sum of one million, one hundred and ninety thousand nine hundred and twenty six Leones twenty five cents (1,190,926/25) new Leones property of the Apex Bank Sierra Leone Limited

When the charge was read and explained to the accused person No plea was taken.

Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai lead Prosecution witness number four Hannah Jusu Lavalie is working at Apex Bank he recognized the accused person as former worker at the said bank she was the Head of the banking unit at the time of the alleged incident during that time she was the overseer of the banking transaction.

She recalled on the 1st July to 31st August 2022 on the above date the bank of Sierra Leone changed the old currency to the new one the witness said that gave them though time, the witness said she went to Kenema on Audit service at this juncture the Prosecutor seeks for a short adjournment date.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Kekura adjourned the matter to the 8th February 2024; bail continues for the accused person Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai is prosecuting the matter.
