Alpha Kargbo, an auto mechanic, made another appearance before Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Court No. 1 in Freetown on a charge of larceny, contrary to Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the particulars of the offence, the accused, sometime in 2023 at New York Garage off Waterloo Highway in the Western Area of Freetown, allegedly stole while acting as a bailee several parts from a DAF truck bearing registration number ARK 660.
The stolen items reportedly included a PACCAR PX-5 engine, air intake/filter, exhaust system, alternator, differential lock, air supply system, and other assorted components, with a total estimated value of Le383,000. The property belongs to Messie Kamara.
When the charge was read and explained to the defendant, he pleaded guilty.
Prosecutor Inspector Mabel M. Tarawally Esq. informed the court that the relevant case documents had been served on the defendant, who acknowledged receipt.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered that the defendant be remanded at the Male Correctional Facility in Freetown.
The matter was adjourned to 18 February 2026 for further proceedings.
