His Excellency President Julius Maada Bio convened his inaugural meeting as Chairperson of the Authority of Heads of State and Government of ECOWAS on August 5, 2025. The meeting, held in Freetown, marked a significant moment for regional leadership amid ongoing political and security challenges in West Africa.
During the meeting, President Bio held important discussions with H.E. Dr. Omar Alieu Touray, President of the ECOWAS Commission. He expressed his strong commitment to working collaboratively with fellow Heads of State and the ECOWAS Commission to strengthen regional cooperation and improve security.
“I am eager to collaborate with my colleagues to address the pressing issues our region faces,” President Bio stated.
