Mahmoud Barrie and Alpha Fayia Kamara made their first appearance before magistrate Sahr Keikura of pademba road court in Freetown on two counts Charges to wit Larceny contrary to section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916 and receiving stolen goods contrary to section 33(i) of the Larceny Act of 1916.
According to the charge sheet it was alleged that on a date between the 1st April and the 19th July 2021 at No.2 Lewis Drive hill station the western Area in Freetown did steal seventy seven (77) Android tablets, seventy seven (77) power bank solar charger and fifteen (15) Bluetooth speakers all to the total valued of ninety seven million four hundred and fifty nine thousand seven hundred and one Leones ten cent (97, 459, 701, 10) property of purpostal government Sierra Leone.
And on a date between 1st April and 30th April 2021 at Kamara Drive back of America embassy hill station in the western Area in Freetown received stolen goods to wit two android tablets phone and one power bank solar charger all to the total valued of one million eight hundred and eight thousand and sixty seven hundred and fourteen Leones belongs to the said complainant.
Counsel representing the second accused person A.M Musa applied for bail for and on behalf of the accused person pursuant to section 79 (3) of C.P.A No.32 of 1965 that he is a Sierra Leonean resident in Freetown he has reliable sureties who are ready to enter into recognizance on his behalf that the accused person is not at flight risk and he will not jump bail.
Magistrate Keikura granted the second accused person bail in the sum of ten million Leones or one surety in like sum.
The surety must be resident in the western Area; the surety should produce identity cards depicting his or her address in Freetown bail to be approved by the DAR. The accused person was sent to the male correctional centre in Freetown for record and sentence.
ASP Aminatu Daboh is prosecuting the matter and has been adjourned to the 12th August 2021.
