As the world struggles with hunger, five hundred Destitutes have been served with delicious meal at Lumley, PZ and Kissy Road in Freetown as part of the Feed the Needy program rolled out by DAQVAH Charity Foundation.

The Fund-Raising Manager of the above mentioned foundation, Mohamed Malador Jalloh said the initiative is designed to identify with the plight of indigent members of the society.

He said this is the first gesture to provide solace to the needy since the foundation emerged in 2015.

According to Malador, the project costs twenty-five million Leones (LE 25,000million).

“We are going to reach the unreached and serve them downtown as we believe in helping humanity”, said Malador.

He added that the foundation has been supporting Orphans and Widows with schooling and feeding.

He revealed that the foundation is not receiving support from any organization adding that the funds they get come from friends and family members are judiciously spent in transparency and accountability.

Meanwhile, this charity foundation is working towards establishing orphanage and providing micro finance for the widows. The foundation currently maintains and caters to a total of eleven orphans and widows.

The United Nations has reported that each day, 25,000 people including more than 10,000 kids die from hunger. Some 854 million people worldwide are estimated to be undernourished as high food prices may drive 100 million into poverty and hunger.
