The Interim National President of the Old Students of Jimmy Government Secondary School, in the Bagbo Chiefdom Bo District Hemoh Bunduka has disclosed that, since the school was established in 1923, much has not been done by the old students of the school to give a facelift to the school.
The School, he said is set to celebrate its 100 years Centennial celebrations come next year 2023, but no major rehabilitation has been done and that old boys who are in higher position of trust give blind eyes to their alma meter, describing it as frustrating.
Speaking to A-Z Newspaper about the preparation towards the celebrations, the Interim National President Hemoh Bunduka thanked God almighty bringing the association thus far, and that Jimmi school otherwise known as ‘’Terminal’’ was founded in 1923 with the sole aim to promote rural education in sierra Leone and was established as a feeder school to the Bo school.
He expressed his dissatisfaction over the living condition of the school due to the numerous challenges besetting the running of the school, including inadequate accommodation, insufficient food supply, no vehicle facility, poor water facility, no medical facility, no electricity supply, no equipped library, no computers, and poor school lab among several others which needs urgent attention by the government.
President Bunduka also noted that most of the structures in the school are in a dilapidated state, which has now become a good habitation for snakes, noting that they have however, contributed to buy mattresses, text books, computers, furniture among several others and lavished praises on the principal and stakeholders for their humanitarian assistance in making sure that things work on well as they await the centenary Jubilee.
He therefore appealed to the government that the school lacks some standards to qualify it as a real government own institution but however neglected successive government.
Mr. Bunduka however blamed the old boys for not given much attention to their Alma meter, describing it as neglect of their institution,
He noted that the old boys have a vital role to play in the running of the school as the Government contributes 70% while the remaining 30% is for the old boys and pleaded with the old boys to come on board to strongly to give a facelift to school as they await the centenary celebrations.
