‘OSIWA West Africa boarder less Ghana’ over the week ends four days training for Media practitioners in Kambia and practitioners from forkaria in Guinea. The training started on Tuesday the 3rd August and ends on Friday the 6th August 2021 at the Kambia district council hall.
The training hosted 25 journalist across the two sister countries.
Head of the delegation Tejanie Tarawalie said the training is geared to empower journalist as investigative journalist, how to report on issues of accountability, corruption, and the techniques needed by a journalist to report on such stories without being emotional.
He further explained that the training covered other areas like the code of conduct for journalist and the skills of relating with authorities to get the fact and evidence before a story is published.
In his closing remarks during the end of the four days training session Tejanie Tarawalie said his expectation to all journalists whom have been part of the four days training is to apply what they have learnt for a successful execution of their job.
According to Samuel wise Bangura the lead facilitator working for AYV, he Said the training is centered on Investigative journalism especially how to report on corruption related cases, evidence base and Factual stories without being emotional as journalists working between the two countries, Samuel Wise Bangura said during the first day of the training session he noticed that there are other areas which are lacking from representatives of the two countries like structure news writing, interview skills and other areas of importance as far as the profession is concerned.
Bangura called on Media practitioners between the two countries to practice what they have learnt over the four days as it will help them to do their job Successfully Samuel wise Bangura called on authorities of the two countries to work with members of the press as they will also contribute to the development of the two countries in terms of information sharing and other areas of interest.
A beneficiary of the training James Abraham Sowa of radio Kolenten Kambia expressed thanks and appreciation to OSIWA West Africa for the tremendous efforts in making sure that more stuff is added on the area of investigative journalism, the Code of Conduct and Accountability.
He ended by recommending to other organizations to emulate the footprint of OSIWA in making sure that more training is organized to keep media practitioners on track on their daily operations.
The four days training was climaxed by Presentation of certificates to journalists from the two West Africa Nations.
