29 years old driver Ishmael Kabia has been slammed for 13 years jail term by Hon. Justice Suliaman Bah of the High Court in Freetown. The accused made his final appearance in court after spending 36 months in prison.
The convict was before the court on three counts of conspiracy, robbery and assault with intent to rob contrary to law.
According to the Police file, it was alleged that the accused on diverse dates between the 7th July 2019 and 9th July 2019 in Freetown conspired with another person unknown to commit a felony wit robbery.
It was further alleged that the accused on the 9th July 2019 in Freetown robbed Isatu Koroma of her property worth 13 million Leones and assaulted Aminata Kanu with intent to rob her.
The convict pleaded guilty to all three offences.
State Prosecutor A.F Kamara gave brief facts on the matter and said during the process of the robbery; the convict assaulted Aminata Kanu, daughter of the complainant thereby sustaining serious injuries and having to be taken to the hospital for treatment.
The convict pleaded with Justice Sulaiman Bah to tamper him justice with mercy, while lawyer Morrison Karimu from the Legal Aid Board made plea mitigation for the accused person.
On counts one, two and three Justice Sulaiman Bah sentenced the convict to 13 years imprisonment and should run concurrently including the time spent in remand.
