Magistrate Mark Ngegba of the Pademba Road Court No.2 on Wednesday 25th May 2022 remanded Ibrahim Alpha Barrie for an alleged mobile phones theft.

The accused appeared before the court for three count offences of conspiracy, robbery with aggravation, and assault contrary to law.

It was alleged on count one and two that the accused Barrie on the 8th October 2021 at John Michael, off Wilkinson Road in Freetown conspired with other persons unknown robed Ibrahim Hassan Kargbo four iphone promax mobile phones valued at Le48,000,000 (forty eight Million Leones).

Whereas count three alleged that on the same day and place the accused assaulted Hassan Kargbo in a manner thereby occasioning him actual bodily harm.

The accused took no plea when he was arraigned.

Led in evidence by Assistant Superintendent of Police Hawa Bah, Prosecution Witness number one Ibrahim Hassan Kargbo told the court that he recognized the accused and recalled on the above mentioned date when the accused called him via mobile communication requested that he want two 11promax and two 12promax mobile phones respectively.

He said the accused ordered that he meet him at John Michael drive, adding that he went together with two of his friends. He said, upon arriving there, the accused interrogated him as to why he went with his friends.

He furthered stated that the accused told him to move down to John Michael drive, adding that whilst they were going they reached at a point where the accused made a telephone call stating that he was waiting to change the united state dollars he had at hand.

He said when the accused stopped talking on the phone, he immediately saw unknown men whom were armed with to attack him, adding that the accused also attacked him by pelting stone on the right part of his face. He said the accused and the unknown men forcefully took away the four mobile phones from him and ran off.

He said because he could not fight back, he immediately went to the Lumley police station and made the report.

Under cross examination by the defense counsel B. Musa, you said that there were seven men who attacked him. The witness to him that he dealt in online business and he has documents for the alleged stolen phones.

At this stage, Lawyer Musa applied that the accused should produce the said documents.

However, Magistrate Ngegba therefore adjourned the matter to Monday 30th May, 2022 for further cross examination.
