Apprentice Granted Leone 130,000 Bail for Alleged Theft

Ibrahim Suma, an Apprentice, made another appearance before Magistrate Santigie Bangura of Pademba Road Court No.2 in Freetown on two counts of Conspiracy to commit a crime contrary to law and Larceny by Servant Contrary to Section 17 (1) (a) of the Larceny Act 1916.

According to the particulars of the offense, on Sunday, September 1st, 2024, at Queen Elizabeth II Quay, the western area in Freetown, a Servant employed by Zak Building Materials stole eight hundred and ten bags of imported cement worth one hundred and fifty-five Leones, totaling one hundred and twenty-five thousand five hundred and fifty Leones (125,550,00), property of the said Zak Building Materials.

When the charge was read and explained to the accused, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Detective Police Constable Thoronka K.K informed the Bench that his witness was absent.

Counsel representing the accused person, Samuel L. Lewis, renewed his previous Bail applications on behalf of the accused person.

Meanwhile, Magistrate Bangura granted bail to the accused person in the sum of one hundred and thirty thousand Leones with two sureties in like sum, sureties to be residents of Freetown and sureties to be responsible citizens. The bail will be approved by the Deputy Assistant Registrar. The Matter was adjourned to 21 November 2024.
