APPOINMENT COMMITTEE VETS TWO PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEES

The Committee on Appointment and Public Service of the Fourth Session of the Fifth Parliament of the Republic of Sierra Leone, has yesterday the 24th of January 2022, vetted two presidential nominees Bockarie Kalokoh, Proposed Deputy Minister of Finance II, and Princess Dugba, proposed Deputy Minister of Health and Sanitation.

Taking to members of the Press Gallery after the interview, the Deputy Minister of Finance II designate, Bockarie Kalokoh expressed delight over the appointment and his anxiety in talking to the media.

 He added that outcome of the interview was a manifestation of good relationship between him and Members of Parliament.

 As an acting Managing Director of the Bank of Sierra Leone, Bockarie Kalokoh disclosed that he has been working very closely with Parliament across all sections of the political frameworks.

He further expressed excitement for the new job and also thanked the president for appointing him into such confection   position as Deputy Minister II in the Ministry of Finance.  He acknowledged that the Minister will be his boss whereby, assigning   jobs to him for onwards execution. 

He stressed that his intention is to work with the Minister and the leadership of the Ministry of Finance.

The proposed Deputy Minister II in the Ministry of Finance added that he will bring in new innovations generally from the Private sector in terms of speed, efficiency and also how they can grow the revenue base of the country. With the Executive Team of the Ministry of Finance, he reaffirmed that they will be able to influence some few changes with the consent of his Minister as to how Sierra Leone economy can grow.

He noted that the Ministry of Finance has just concluded their annual strategic meeting and based on what he heard from the strategic meeting, he said there are a lot of elements in the strategic plan which will assist the transformation of the Ministry.

He assured of new initiatives that he will introduce in the Ministry from his private sector experience.

“I don’t have plan now but definitely once I sit down with the Minister and team, we are going to look at things and give a different perspective as times progresses. I have started looking at things in terms of how we can improve the ministry and economy of the country at large”, he concluded.
