In the ongoing Commission of Inquiry Appeal matter, former President Ernest Bai Koroma will today appear in court today.
He is appealing against three specific charges of allegedly ordering transferring payment of 14 million dollars from the Petroleum Directorate to Rokel Commercial Bank as loan.
On the second count the former President allegedly authorized the payment of 3 million dollars to a certain SMARTCO company as loan
Furthermore court records reveals that former President Ernest Bai Koroma authorized end of service payment to some staffers of the Petroleum Directorate and they continued to receive salaries.
All of the loans awarded did not receive parliamentary authorization.
It is unlikely that the former President will appear in person but his lawyers Fitzgerald Koroma and Ady Macauley are expected to be court to defend the charges.
Consultant senior state counsel lawyer Robert B Kowa is expected to be leading the prosecution. More on the story in subsequent edition.
