On Wednesday, January 24, 2023, members of the All Political Parties Association (APPA) paid a courtesy call on the Chief Immigration Officer, Hon. Alusine Kanneh, at the Immigration Headquarters in Freetown. During the visit, congratulatory messages were conveyed by the association.

Representing APPA, Chairman Prince C.R. Coker explained that APPA is a coalition of registered political parties in Sierra Leone, established in the 1990s to advocate for the restoration of democratic rule. Currently supervised by the Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC), APPA works collaboratively with the government to contribute to the country’s development.

Coker expressed the association’s decision to congratulate Chief Immigration Officer Hon. Alusine Kanneh, acknowledging him as a seasoned politician who has demonstrated exemplary leadership throughout his tenure as a parliamentarian and now as the Chief Immigration Officer.

According to Coker, APPA is fully committed to supporting the actions of the Chief Immigration Officer and the Sierra Leone Immigration Department (SLID) in their efforts for national development. He also mentioned that APPA had recently awarded Hon. Manso Dumbuya and Hon. Ibrahim Ben Kargbo for their long-serving contributions to politics, emphasizing APPA’s ongoing search for outstanding politicians like Hon. Alusine Kanneh to recognize for their hard work.

Madam Hawa Sally Samai, the Executive Secretary of the Independent Commission for Peace and National Cohesion, encouraged APPA members to remain focused on peace-building processes. She urged them to emulate the developmental examples set by the Chief Immigration Officer and the entire immigration department, aligning with the government’s Big Five Game Changer initiative.

Responding to the comments from APPA, Hon. Alusine Kanneh expressed his gratitude for the visit, emphasizing the importance of peaceful coexistence for Sierra Leone’s development. He encouraged collaboration, stating, “Your coming here today is an opportunity; don’t go for everything, go for your passion. For me, I cut across, my politics has no limit, Sierra Leone is first, we have to work together because the difference one makes today goes a long way.”
