The All Political Parties Association (APPA) has welcomed the decision of the government of Sierra Leone through NaCOVERC in lifting the 12 AM curfew that was put in place as a measure to fight the Coronavirus pandemic.

To the astonishment of Sierra Leoneans, the curfew was lifted yesterday through a press release issued by NaCOVERC.

According to the Chairperson of APPA, Prince Coker, the lifting of the curfew is welcome by the association. Coker described the curfew that was in force as being in good fate, noting that it was meant to fight the pandemic which he said brought untold sufferings in the lives of Sierra Leoneans.

He recounted that the association embarked on massive sensitization through its membership within the existing political parties. He expressed satisfaction over the way the pandemic is being fought by the government adding that the association engaged government initially when the virus surfaced the country in 2020.

“We constantly engage government since I became Chairman of the association and even before me the association used to doing it’’, said Coker, expressing further that the association would continue its constructive engagement with the Bio led administration.

Prince Coker described APC’s membership within the association as sluggish noting that sometimes they don’t attend meetings but “no qualms and I don’t have issues with them”, Coker maintained.

On the issue of corruption, the APPA Chairman commended the Ant-Corruption Commission (ACC) saying they have been doing well in the fight against corruption.

Prince Coker is chairman of the Peoples’ Democratic Party.
